This project is associated to one of the lessons we are teaching in class My Science Project (Unit 7). 1ESO students of English. ICT school. Middle class students, few retakers.
This project intends to expand not only the linguistc abilities of 1 ESO students of English but also make them familiar with their science topics and the steps to follow when working on a science project. A knowledge that, with no doubt, will come in handy as they progress in their eduaction.
Objetives:
Make the students competent to describe their project and explain it orally in the English language
Learn new vocabulary and grammar structures
Find information from themselves by talking to people, using the internet, the teacher´s wiki, etc.
Turn the proccess of learning into a process to generate knowledge
Learn to work and share in a group
Create a science project
Generate group and cooperative creations
Participate in group work in a constructive way, being respectful in every way (to other people´s ideas, turn-taking, etc.)
Insert the final product in the wiki so other people can see, benefit from and enjoy it

Comparative and Superlative structures

Looking for the appropriate information in the web/wiki in order to develop the project
Creation of a science project
Attitudinal Contents:
Reflection on scientific method steps
The importance of working step by step and organizing work accordingly
Care about our own part of the project in order not to delay our partners
Participation in all discussions that take place in class (show interest in other group´s projects, ask when you do not understand, etc.)
Development of respect and tolerance while working in groups
Development of a certain artistic expresion to create project
Learning to value computers in class, the need to care for them to work on a daily basis, they are not only to entertain ourselves
Develop a sense of personal achivement in creating something interesting for other students
Methodology:
First we will work on the level of linguistic and cognitive competence the students have, then, we will find out their previous knowledge
We will work on learning hands on, learning something that is paractical and fuctional
Learning to Learn since students have to solve vocabulary, grammar problems among the resources provided to the group, the necessity to come to an agreement on how to select info, decide what to present in the video, respect other people´s opinions, etc.
Students will work cooperatively, will also learn from mistakes and will learn from the teacher who is guiding them
Students are taught to reflect on the whole process and learn skills and strategies that can be used in other situations
Groups: individual work, pair work, group and whole group work.

The unit takes place in 9 sessions of 55 minutes, the project should be finished by the last session.
